The UX Response

If you’re like me and you’re on your journey towards becoming a professional UX Designer or Researcher, you may be looking for guidance on the basics of the UX process, methods, and examples of the real world application of UX skills. I will not even come close to comprehensively addressing all of those issues. Nevertheless, you may find what I write about here helpful. I will share my thoughts and relay the knowledge of established professionals on a range of UX topics that address learning and putting knowledge gained to practical use in the pursuit of better experiences.

About Me

My interest in UX began back in 2015. At the time, I was working for a software company and experienced the iterative nature of software development and the need to constantly improve our product for the users. As a software tester, I would routinely encounter issues that needed to be reported and fixed, but I could not resist thinking beyond the immediate problems and consider why a specific solution was being offered instead of another. Over time, as I continued in my role and our product became more sophisticated, I could see there was a need for a better user experience and that arriving at the best solution for them was often complicated. From that point onward, I was hooked and each year thereafter I began to move closer and closer to where I am now: fully immersed in ongoing, regular education in all things UX and ready to start my journey as a practitioner — albeit as a freelance end-to-end UX Designer to start, because that seems to be the only way to get one’s proverbial foot in the proverbial door.

You can find portfolio previews on this website. My intent with these portfolio samples is to share both summaries of recent projects I have worked on in the course of my UX education, and also my first real-world freelance projects/jobs. I do not think it is particularly advantageous to share every detail about these projects online. If you would like to talk about them, send me a message and we can set up a video call.
